Erhard Schneider passed away peacefully at age 91 on Sept. 28, 2019 in Salmon Arm, BC having lived a rich and fulfilled life in service to his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Predeceased in 2015 by his wife of 60 years Louisa, he leaves behind his daughters Barbara (Matthias), Agnes, sons Johannes (Jennifer), Franz and Bernie (Judith), as well as his grandchildren Tobias (Mia), Andreas (Maike), Anne, David, Jadyn, Janna, Joelle, Michal, Rory, Breanna, Nolan, and great grandchildren Louis, Josia and Lara.
Born in the former East Germany , Erhard served as a teenage soldier in WWII and started his extensive education in 1948, both in Germany and Holland, where he met his future wife Louisa whom he married in Amsterdam in 1954. Together they lived and moved throughout the world, starting in Germany through 1967; then to Filadelfia, Paraguay (1968–1975); Vancouver, Canada (1976-1983); Batu, Indonesia (1983-1992) and finally settling in White Rock, Abbotsford and Salmon Arm, Canada after their “unofficial” retirement in 1993.
Erhard was a teacher, youth worker, counselor, pastor, evangelist, missionary, radio preacher, professor; as well as taxi driver, book salesman and whatever other work was available to make ends meet in the early years as a husband and father. Throughout his life Erhard loved the church and Christian ministry, in all its facets, including singing in a renowned male chorus in his retirement. In 1981 Erhard attained his Doctorate in Ministry; followed by a second PhD in 1989 in Philosophy and Pastoral Counseling. Erhard also loved the outdoors, which represented some of his many hobbies, such as fishing and hunting. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
