Obituary for Maria Aterana Bali
September 9, 1947 – May 16, 2026
Born in 1947 and raised in Suva Fiji, Maria was the oldest of 3 children from Rotuman-descent parents. She met her husband Moses in 1969. They married in 1972 and had two children, Pedro and Hilda.
She migrated to Canada in 1976.
Maria was a loyal and loving wife and mother. She had a great sense of humour and brought joy, laughter and light to all those blessed enough to know her.
The essence of the Fiji & Rotuma islands influenced her character and way of life. She had passion for her family, heritage, music, dancing and gardening.
A selfless spirit and always willing to serve others, she exuded love!
A devout Catholic who loves God, she stood firmly in her moral beliefs and Catholic traditions. Maria, thank you/vinaka/faiakse’ea for the love, the laughter and the beautiful memories you’ve shared with us. You will be missed, but your spirit lives on in our hearts forever.
Rest in eternal peace.
