Obituary for George Frederick Caines
April 7, 1978 – November 15, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Frederick, Caines, beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. George passed away at the age of 47 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
He was predeceased by his father, George, Fred Caines, and his aunt Julia Croke.
George is survived by his mother, Judy Caines (Croke); sister Angie (Ryan); nephew Aiden; nieces Ava, and Sadie; beloved cat Walter, as well as numerous extended family and lifelong friends.
George, known as Junior, to those closest to him, was born on April 7, 1978. He was raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He moved to British Columbia in 1999 making Pemberton his home.
Junior loved nature and the outdoors and could often be found fishing at his favourite spot in Pemberton. He was viewed by friends and coworkers as a kind soul who would always offer a helping hand to those in need. “ A peacemaker “, he was often described.
His family wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the critical care team at Vancouver General Hospital for their care and compassion.
Angie and Judy are incredibly grateful to his friends and Pemberton family at Pemberton Valley Lodge, for their kindness, generosity and support.
A private celebration of life will occur on Sunday, November 30 in Pemberton, BC and in August 2026 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
