It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Jewel Campbell (Sue), née Carter, who passed away on May 31, 2026, at the age of 76.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, on October 19, 1949, Sue lived a vibrant and meaningful life marked by generosity, laughter, and deep devotion to others.
Sue was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years, Van Murdoch Campbell, whose memory she continued to carry closely.
Sue’s greatest joy was found in her children and grandchildren, whose lives brought her immeasurable pride, happiness, and purpose. Her love for family was at the centre of who she was.
Warm, boisterous, and endlessly generous, Sue had an unmistakable presence. She laughed often and easily, brought people together, and possessed the rare gift of making friends wherever she went. Outgoing and deeply sociable, she made connections effortlessly and had a way of making others feel welcomed, seen, and valued. Her loyalty is reflected in the several lifelong friendships she had.
Throughout her life, Sue dedicated herself to helping others. She volunteered with children in orphanages and worked compassionately with unhoused individuals, giving her time and energy to those most in need. In recognition of her extraordinary commitment to service, she was honoured with the Queen’s Jubilee Award for Community Service, reflecting the impact she made on countless lives. She loved baking for those she cared about and held a special love for Mexico, a place that brought her and Van happiness and many treasured memories.
Professionally, Sue began her career at IBM Canada and concluded it as Director of Administration at GlaxoSmithKline/SmithKline, where she was respected for her dedication, leadership, and professionalism.
Sue leaves behind a wide circle of family and dear friends who will remember her for the unmistakable energy she brought into every room. Sue will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all fortunate enough to have known her.
