Obituary for Chin Yu Kim
June 2, 1940 – April 29, 2026
Chin Yu Kim, a beloved mother, grandmother, and dear friend to many, passed away peacefully in Vancouver on April 29, 2026. Born on June 2, 1940, in Brunei Darussalam, she lived a life defined by hard-work, generosity, and loyalty to those she loved.
Throughout her life, she embodied hard-work, strength and endurance. She worked tirelessly for her family, guided by compassion and a commitment to ensuring her children and grandchildren always felt supported, and encouraged. Her warmth, wisdom, and presence shaped the lives of all who knew her, and her legacy will endure through the values she instilled in her family.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ng King Pao, with whom she will now be reunited in rest at Northern Lights Cemetery in Edmonton.
Her memory will be kept alive by her surviving children and their families:
- Peter Ng and his wife, Anne, and their daughters, Sarah, Josephine, and Adeline
- Judy Leong and her husband, Vincent, and their children, Joanne, Joevy, and Alwin
- Chang Lung Ng and his wife, Siew Yen Tan, and their children, Donavon (with his wife, Hui Chen), Michelle, and Jonathan
- Johnson Ng
She is also remembered by her extended family members, friends and all whose lives were touched by her kindness.
A funeral service to honor her life will be held on May 8, 2026 at the above-mentioned location in Coquitlam. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her husband at Northern Lights Cemetery in Edmonton, fulfilling her long-held wish to be reunited with him in rest.
Her presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
