Obituary for Christopher Harvey Cummings

October 26, 1987 – April 18, 2024

Christopher Harvey Cummings was born in Edmonton, October 26, 1987 to Todd Cummings and Debbie Zyla. It was identified early in his childhood, that Chris was born with a hearing impairment. This impairment did not deter him from growing into the inquisitive, compassionate, funny, talented young man we all loved. As loving parents, we were not prepared for the ultimately tragic death of our son, at the age of 36, on April 18, 2024.

Christopher graduated high school in 2006. Christoper had a desire to help other hearing-impaired individuals, and attended Grant McEwan University, where he graduated in November 2009 obtaining his Hearing Aid Practitioner certification.

To continue to pursue his dreams of helping others and be near the ocean, Christopher moved to Vancouver working as a Hearing Aid Practitioner, where he has resided for the past 14 years. Tragically it was there that he passed away.

Christopher had his difficult struggles yet remained ever resilient and vigilant striving to be a better person every day.

Dear God, please take our son, the most precious gift you could bestow upon us at his birth, back once again as your heavenly son. Lord, keep him in your loving arms for eternity.

Christopher was predeceased by his grandmother Ruby Zyla, and his uncle Dave Zyla Jr. He leaves behind his parents Todd and Debbie, his grandparents Harvey and Francis Cummings, Dave and Natalka Zyla, his sisters Ashley (John), Katie, Hallie, Madison, brothers Graeson and Carson and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and friends.

A service will be held for Christopher on May 18, from 12-3pm at the Royal Canadian Legion 14339-50 St NW Edmonton AB. Private Interment to follow.

Until we meet again son, you’ll forever be in our hearts.
