Obituary for David L Gillespie
March 29, 1938 – June 25, 2023
Dave Gillespie passed away peacefully on June 25, 2023, in White Rock, BC. Dave was born in 1938 in Medicine Hat, AB to Euphemia and Issac Gillespie. As the youngest of 5 children, he had to be smarter and cleverer than those around him, which he managed to use to his utmost advantage throughout his life.
Dave’s training as a Chartered Accountant led him to a long and successful career starting out in public practice in Ponoka, AB. He eventually transitioned into entrepreneurship within the hospitality industry in both Alberta and the Lower Mainland.
Dave was not only an avid reader but an avid sport lover. He had a passion for golf that was never more apparent than on his annual trips to Maui.
Predeceased by his parents, sisters Anne and Helen, his brother Hank, and his first wife, Pat. Dave is survived by his wife Lin, brother George, children Mark (Linda and children Robyn (Alex), Scott, Danica), Leanne (Joe) as well as Lin’s children Tanya (Steve and daughters, Hannah and Abby), and Rob.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and support staff on floor 6 of Peace Arch Hospital and the staff at Melville Hospice for their care of Dave in his final days.
A Celebration of Life will be organized by the family on August 2, 2023, at Morgan Creek Golf Course from 2-5 pm.
