Obituary for John (Jack) Vance Gordon

February 16, 1938 – September 7, 2023

He may be gone, but it doesn’t take too long for the initial pain to fade as you remember an incredible man that touched the lives of so many. If you were fortunate enough to know him, you will have plenty of memories of his amazing personality filled with charm, compassion, integrity and humour.

A small town boy that took on the world and left his footprint both on land and in our hearts, Jack leaves behind countless friends around the world.

Coming from a large family, Jack grew up with four brothers and two sisters. Although his plight to chase his dreams took him from home at an early age, he and the brood were always close and Jack loved them dearly, even though at times they were thousands of miles apart.

Perhaps one would look at his life and all of his accomplishments with awe. While doing so, remember that his greatest success was his family: a soulmate and partner to Beth who he adored and cherished and who was by his side through everything, and a devoted and loving father to Nicole Smith and Craig Gordon and grandfather to Connor and Lauren Smith and Kross, Lochlan and Whistler Gordon.

Jack wouldn’t want to see us mourning, he would want us all to just remember the good times, the countless laughs, the time spent in the great outdoors, the amazing food and drink, the tales of adventures around the world and the love he had for everyone in his life.

So break out the fine wine, a big slab of prime rib, maybe light up a Cohiba or pour a pinch of Scotch as this would be the best send-off you can give to a Legend.
