Kevin James, born November 17, 1968, left this world on December 17, 2025. He was the beloved son of Steve and Jean Halowski, brother to Patrick (Vivian) and Kim Halowski, and a proud uncle to Samantha and Noah Halowski. Though his passing came far too soon, we choose to celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the cherished memories he leaves behind.
Despite suffering the loss of his eye which altered his dream of becoming a police officer, Kevin’s resilience shone brightly and he went on to build a successful 35 year career with SkyTrain. Starting on the train platform and ultimately becoming a Control Centre instructor, he earned the deep respect and friendship of many throughout the company. Colleagues appreciated him not just for his hard work, but for his camaraderie, his humour, and his calm, thoughtful approach to problem-solving.
Kevin had a great appreciation for the simple joys in life, whether that was relishing a home-cooked meal or pausing to take in a beautiful sunset. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing with friends and family. Treasured memories came from exploring the world and these trips became the source of his favourite stories. A massive Canucks fan, Kevin generously volunteered his time for several years at Canuck Place; sharing his humour and kindness with those in need.
To know Kevin was to share in a lot of laughter. He marched to the beat of his own drum and beneath his trademark sarcasm and boldly independent ways was a hugely sentimental and kind soul. There was never a dull moment around him, whether he was playing the punchline or lovingly poking fun at friends, family, and colleagues alike. He will forever be remembered for his openness in conversation, his protective nature, and the fierce, unwavering loyalty that anchored his lifelong friendships.
