Obituary for Richard Neil Hare

August 26, 1955 – January 4, 2024

Richard Neil Hare, a man known for his loving nature, adventurous spirit, and generous heart, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on January 4, 2024, in New Westminster, British Columbia, with his loving wife of 30 years, Nubia Osso, by his side. Born on August 26, 1955, in Brandon, Manitoba, Richard's life journey was one marked by a zest for life and a passion for the people and hobbies he loved.

Richard built a life rich with experiences and relationships. He found his calling as a telecommunications technician, a career that spanned many years and allowed him to apply his keen intellect and meticulous attention to detail. His work took him around the world to many countries including Colombia, Singapore, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. His professional life was not only about his work but also the connections he made.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Richard was an avid enthusiast of motorcycle racing, cars, golf, and paintball. His love for speed and precision was evident in his dedication to motorcycle racing, an interest that fueled many of his happiest moments. Golf provided a serene contrast, where he enjoyed both the challenge of the game and the company of close friends. Paintball was another avenue for Richard's playful and competitive nature, allowing him to engage in spirited teamwork and strategy.

Family was the cornerstone of Richard's world. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nubia Osso, who stood by him as a partner in all of life's adventures. He also leaves his sister, Susan Hare, and (late) brother-in-law, Blair Westgate, along with his sister, Nancy, and (late) brother-in-law, Doug Bennett, as well as his nieces, Devon, Shea, and Della.

Those who knew Richard would describe him as a man who lived fully and loved deeply. His generosity extended beyond his immediate circle, touching the lives of many with his empathy and kindness. Richard's adventurous soul led him to explore the world, seek new experiences, and always remain open to life's endless possibilities.

In the words of Helen Keller, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." Richard embodied this sentiment, approaching each day as an opportunity for discovery and joy. His legacy is one of courage, love, and the pursuit of passion, inspiring all who knew him to live with the same fervor and enthusiasm.

As we bid farewell to Richard Neil Hare, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life full of love, adventure, and generosity. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire us. May his journey onward be as enriching and fulfilling as the one he led among us. Richard's memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.

While our hearts are heavy with loss, we take solace in knowing that Richard's story is one of a life beautifully lived. Rest in peace, Richard. Your journey on this earth was nothing short of remarkable.
