Obituary for Eric Clark Kuruliak

August 4, 2001 – April 5, 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Eric Clark Kuruliak, beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and friend.

Eric was born on August 4th, 2001 to Kimberly Clark and Jason Kuruliak, he was the second of 3 siblings who along with his older sister Anna and younger sibling Wren grew up in East Vancouver. Eric attended Grandview Elementary School where he quickly made many friends and enjoyed challenging staff members to play Chess. He joined many clubs with Kidsafe and Kimount Boys & Girls Club, he particularly enjoyed the science and cycling clubs. He attended Britannia High School for his senior school years and could often be seen around the Grandview neighbourhood.

Eric started his working life at Dueck Auto Group Vancouver with the Downtown Lot Dept. There he earned a reputation as a reliable, hardworking individual. Of course Dueck time was also family time as Eric was one of a number of family members who worked at Dueck, they enjoyed working together lunching together and watching Eric mature into a responsible young man.

Eric had many joys in his life. He enjoyed video games and watching anime with his 'Nerd' family. He'd often help his mom remember the Pokemon type weaknesses and spent many hours playing Minecraft with his parents and sibling. Eric enjoyed cooking and trying new foods, he was always a willing guinea pig when his mom wanted to try a new dish and a gentle critic when suggestions were needed to improve a recipe. Eric was fond of camping, hiking and downhill mountain biking. He was working towards a hunting license and a camping trailer to go with his Dodge Dakota.

Eric inspired us as he would set goals and push himself to attain them. He set a great example around the house, both as a child and teenager he was the first to help out with chores or babysitting. He was also his moms gardening helper, happy to get his hands dirty digging in the dirt. He loved the time spent with his siblings and cousins, Nerf gun battles, tickle fights, board games and was always happy to walk his younger sibling Wren to and from school. Recently Eric realized his goal of 'getting out of the city' and was living and working in Chilliwack when he passed.

Eric will be remembered for his calm and steady nature, known as the gentle giant of the family especially for his patience and kindness with his siblings and younger cousins. Eric was always thoughtful, taking the time to find 'the perfect gift' for his friends or family. We are proud of the young man he'd become.

Eric is survived by his parents Kimberly Clark and Jason Kuruliak, his siblings Anna and Wren, his Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
