Obituary for Dong Cong Le
September 11, 1952 – May 2, 2026
Dong Cong Le passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 11, 1952, in Saigon, Vietnam, to Le Van Bac and Nguyen Thi Vang.
From a young age, Dong was known for his generous spirit, curiosity, and love of mechanics. He trained as a helicopter mechanic and pilot with the Vietnam Air Force and worked at Bien Hoa Air Base alongside the U.S.
Army from 1970 to 1975. In 1981,Dong immigrated to Canada in search of a better future for his family, settling first in Red Deer, Alberta. Through hard work and sacrifice, he helped sponsor his parents, siblings, and extended family to Canada, creating opportunities for future generations.
In 1996, he met the love of his life, Thuong Thi Vu, in Calgary, Alberta. Together they built a loving family and later settled in Vancouver, British Columbia, where Dong worked as a baker at La Baguette on Granville Island.
Dong loved cars, hockey, football, fashion, karaoke nights with his wife, and spending time with family. He will be remembered for his radiant smile, warm laugh, quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
He is survived by his loving wife, Thuong; his son, Christopher, and daughterin-law, Magda, and their sons, Rhys and Dominic; his daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law, Victor, and their son, Ethan; and his daughter, Christina.
