Oi Lan Lee passed away on April 26, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born on August 22, 1936 in Kwantung, Hoiping Checkham Village, China. She was the 2nd eldest daughter of Sik and Soo Kim Kwan’s 9 children.
Educated in China, she moved to Hong Kong in 1955 and became an elementary teacher. Soon she met, Bon Min Lee, who went to work abroad in Canada. After a short courtship and many letters exchanged, they were married in 1961. Together they raised 4 children.
Oi Lan loved attending to her garden and spending time with family and friends. Her days were filled with shopping excursions, going for dim sum, chatting on the phone and cheering on the Vancouver Canucks. She will be remembered for her strength and resilience as she always fought to live her fullest. She was pure of heart.
She is survived and remembered by her children: Nancy (Bruno), Linda, William and Judy (Pino). She will be missed by her grandchildren: Stefan, Thalia and Emmett. Oi Lan was preceded by her husband in 2000.
A private service was held on May 7, 2021 at Ocean View Funeral and Burial Park.
The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to St. John Hospice in Oi Lan's memory:
