November 26, 1970 – May 20, 2026
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John McRae on May 20th, 2026, surrounded by friends and family.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, John’s greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and family.
John was known for his big heart, sense of humor, and ability to make everyone feel welcome. He loved listening to AC/DC, cheering on the Montreal Canadiens, and trying his luck playing Keno.
He was someone people could count on, and his love and presence will never be forgotten. John leaves behind countless memories, stories, and laughter that his family and friends will carry with them forever.
He’s survived by his wife, Lisa, daughter Rachel, son Ryan, grandchildren Alexis, Brooklyn, Ryder, Lennox, and Dayton, siblings Mark and Cathie, Mom Diane, and stepdad Doug, along with many close family members.
Like AC/DC said: "Livin’ easy, lovin’ free"
Today we say goodbye to an incredible man — a loving dad, devoted husband, proud grandfather, and cherished son.
He was a true provider and protector. His family always came first, and he carried that responsibility with pride. He worked hard, loved deeply, and would do absolutely anything for the people he cared about. You never had to wonder if he was in your corner — he always was.
He loved the simple things that made him happy: blasting AC/DC loud enough for the whole neighborhood to hear, working on his Jeep and many other vehicles over the years, cheering on the Montreal Canadiens (HABS) and booing the Toronto Maple Leafs, and sitting down to play keno with that little bit of hope and a whole lot of humor. Bugging all the guys at work who were like part of his family. Those little things became part of who he was, and now they’ll forever remind us of him.
He had a way of treating everyone like family. It didn’t matter who you were or where you came from — if you walked into his life, you were accepted with open arms, probably with a joke, a story, and maybe some advice whether you asked for it or not. He made people feel like they belonged.
His absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, but his spirit will live on in every story we tell, every song we hear, every family gathering, and every moment we look out for each other the way he always looked out for us.
Thank you for being our safe place, our strength, and our heart. We will miss you every single day, but we will carry you with us forever.
