Obituary for William Frederick Miles
July 11, 1945 – February 11, 2026
It is with great sadness that the family of William Frederick “Bill” (Will) Miles announce his sudden passing on February 11, 2026, at the age of 80.
Bill grew up in North Burnaby and later became a long-time resident of Vancouver’s West End, where he lived since the 1970s. He loved the neighborhoods' walkability, with Stanley Park as his backyard.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Ann and Pauline (Ted), his devoted companion of 47 years, Tony Duca, and his nieces and nephews: Ted (Nadine), Kathy, Mark, Jeff (Jenice), and Sarah (Chris), as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
After graduating from Burnaby North High School, Bill worked at Stanfield’s Underwear before beginning a long career at the Port of Vancouver, where he worked in office and payroll roles until his retirement more than 30 years later.
In retirement, Bill especially cherished his annual trips to Puerto Vallarta, where he spent time with close friends (including Ron, Bob, Ed, Janet and others). He and Tony also enjoyed travelling to Hawaii together. Known for his infectious laugh, friendliness, and kindness, Bill was well loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family extends sincere thanks to the nurses and doctors in the Neuro ICU at Vancouver General Hospital for their compassionate care.
By Bill’s request, there will be no memorial service. Those wishing to honour his memory are encouraged to take a walk on the beach and treat others with kindness.
