Obituary for Roy Kenneth Moen
June 8, 1938 – June 27, 2025
Roy was born on June 8, 1938, in Fort Frances, Ontario. Over the years he built a life that touched countless people in countless ways. Roy was many things to many people: he was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend to more people than could ever truly be counted. Roy had a way of making people feel welcome, whether through conversation, laughter, or simply his presence. His door, his stories, and his heart were always open.
Roy proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces for four years, an experience that helped shape the man he became. Roy carried with him a sense of resilience, independence, and curiosity about the world. He traveled far and wide, collecting memories and stories everywhere he went. Those stories were treasures to him - stories he loved to tell... again and again. But every retelling carried the same spark, the same excitement, and the same reminder that Roy truly lived.
One of the things that stood out most about Roy was his love for animals. They brought him comfort, companionship, and joy throughout his life. Among them all, his little dog Magoo which held a very special place in his heart. Magoo's passing before Roy was deeply felt, and there is comfort in imagining the two of them reunited once again.
Roy leaves behind a legacy not measured in wealth or accomplishments alone, but in relationships, memories, laughter, and stories shared. His life reminds us of the importance of connection - of taking the time to talk, to laugh, to remember, and to love the people around us.
