Obituary for Elizabeth Marie Irene Hallaert Nilson
May 22, 1948 - April 3, 2026
It was with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to Elizabeth (Liz) Nilson on April 3, 2026. She had a way of bringing love and joy to everyone she met. We’re planning to celebrate her life on June 27th at Gracepoint Community Church at 3487 King George Blvd, Surrey, from 1-3 p.m. Instead of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in Liz’s memory.
Born to Marie Antoinette and Adolf Hallaert in France. The youngest of eight, she had six sisters and one brother, and bore two children of her own - Aaron and Lori. Others affectionately called her Liz, Lizzie, Aunty Liz, Aunty Lizard, Mom and Mama.
Her house which she shared with beloved husband Byron and dog Benson, reflected her artistic talents and creative flair - and her and Byron's hospitality always made others feel welcome.
She loved people, God, flowers, the ocean, painting, traveling, laughing, and of course chocolate! Her eyes always lit up when greeted by those she loved - we were all blessed to know her, and she left us in peace, knowing she was deeply loved.
