Obituary for Kevin John Nylen
January 27, 1961 – May 31, 2026
It is with great sadness that the family of Kevin John Nylen announce his passing on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at the age of 65. Kevin will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 25 years, Sue; siblings: Gord (Sharon), Boyd, Colleen and Anita (Wayne); nieces and nephews: Bill (Lisa), Dennis, Kevin, Sara, Eric, Daryl (Andrea), Isabelle, Trevor (Victoria), Daniel (Juliette), Monique (Mike), Roland, Heidi, David, and Luna; 5 great-nieces and nephews, as well as numerous other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents (Leslie and Verna) and an older brother Dennis.
Kevin was born in Dryden, Ontario and lived in numerous communities in Canada including Willowdale and Cobourg, Ontario; Saskatoon and Allan, Saskatchewan; and Calgary, Alberta, before moving to Vancouver in 1989. He had many interests, ranging from art and architecture to philosophy and science. He was always curious about the world around him. Skilled in carpentry and woodworking of all kinds, Kevin was driven by his passion for helping others. Whether it be a family member, friend, co-worker, customer or simply someone encountered on the street, Kevin was always offering a helping hand. His kindness and generosity were an example to all, and will never be forgotten by those he touched.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the BC Cancer Centre for their care of Kevin during his illness.
A private family celebration of life will take place later this summer.
