As a young girl, she sold halo-halo to members of her community while offering the American soldiers their own “special price.” This early venture demonstrated her generosity, resourcefulness, and natural business sense.

It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life richly lived that we announce the passing of Isabelita loved to cook and prepare food for those she loved. She also treasured her dogs, Bonnie Boy and Claire, and brought warmth, humor, and kindness to everyone around her.

Her Faith and Strength

Faith was central to Isabelita’s life. A devout Roman Catholic, she remained active in the Church while living in Toronto and Vancouver. At St. Joseph’s Parish in Vancouver, she joined the choir and formed lasting friendships through her prayer group. Even when illness limited her participation, her faith remained strong.

At the age of 65, Isabelita began hemodialysis. For 16 years, she endured treatment with courage and perseverance. After consulting with her nephrologist, she chose to discontinue dialysis, facing the final chapter of her life with the same strength and faith that had carried her throughout it.

She often said: “It will be all right. Be positive, and God will provide.”
These words reflected her deep trust in God, prayer, hope, and the Lord’s plan.

Her Legacy

To her family, Isabelita was our Wonder Woman—a warrior and a source of strength, laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love. We will remember her cooking, humor, generosity, unwavering faith, and constant encouragement to remain positive and trust in God.

Her love continues through the family she nurtured, the friendships she formed, and the many lives she touched with her kindness. Isabelita will be laid to rest with her parents in the Philippines, where she will rest in eternal peace.

The family sincerely thanks everyone who supported, prayed for, and cared for Isabelita, and who surrounded our family with love. A special thank-you goes to the VGH Dialysis Unit, who cared for her during the last 16 years. You became her second family, and we will always be grateful.
