Obituary for Rino Righele
August 8, 1942 – October 9, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband and father Rino Righele on October 9th 2023. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 53 years, Clara and his daughters Elisa (Russell) and Ellena. Rino was born in S. Caterina, Vicenza, Italy during WWII and his earliest memory is witnessing the brutal martyrdom of his father by the Fascists. This event would shape his entire life. He immigrated to Canada in the late 1960’s and eventually found his way to BC. During a trip home he met, fell madly in love and proposed to Clara Dal Brun whom he married in Vancouver in 1970.
It was in BC where Rino’s love for the violin would transform his life and a lifelong passion for making violins, violas, cellos and bows would become his career. For over 50 years in his shop, Rino made, repaired, and restored hundreds of instruments, earning many awards along the way. His legacy will live on forever through his creations.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday October 27th at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 5251 Joyce St, Vancouver, BC.
