Obituary for Kurtis John Siemens

June 3, 1995 – March 2, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Kurtis John Siemens at the age of 26. Kurtis is survived by his love Luna Lynn, his Mom Debbie Mabbitt, Dad Daryl (Karen) Siemens, favourite Sister – Karlee (Phillip), very special Nephews Jaxxon and Luke, Guppy Grandma & Guppy Grandpa Mabbitt, Grandpa Jack Siemens, Grandma Grayce & Grandpa Villie Douglas, Luna’s Parents Shauna & Andrew Larson, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Kurtis was raised in the Spruce Grove, AB area, enjoying life on the acreage land in Spruce Grove. Growing up, Kurtis traveled extensively with his Mom, Dad and Sister to NWT, Mexico, Montana, Disneyland and Australia, just to name a few. Kurtis enjoyed a variety of activities growing up such as swimming, soccer, outdoor hockey, paintballing, beavers, judo, softball and being a junior forest warden. He graduated from the Spruce Grove Composite High School in 2013. In his teen years Kurtis had his “ups and downs” with addiction but in 2018, he made the decision to move to BC for his ‘new’ beginning as a sober person (and for the most part was successful with this!). He always kept in touch with the family through visits and phone calls (although visits were limited during Covid pandemic).

With this move to BC, Kurtis got a job as linesman, helping to install the 5G network. He loved climbing those towers up to reach the sky with no fear. He could climb like a monkey: fast when needed, but always taking the time to mentor the more inexperienced workers. His highlight was a trip on a helicopter to the top of a mountain to fix an ice-covered tower. The smile on his face while in the cockpit of the helicopter was priceless.

At the time of his passing, Kurtis was living on Pender Island with the love of his life Luna Lynn and they were expecting their first child in June. Kurtis and Luna were two kindred souls. They were best friends and loved spending time on the beach, camping, fire spinning, poi dancing and aerial hooping.

Kurtis was a very loving person. He was kind, gentle smart, funny, colourful with his own unique style and lived life with great enthusiasm. As a family, we will love you forever and miss you always, Kurtis!

A Celebration of Life was held on March 20, 2022 in Spruce Grove, AB.

The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this very difficult time.
