April 9, 1961 - October 14, 2023
It t is with tremendous sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved brother, uncle and friend. Tony was born in Celano, Italy on April 9, 1961. He is predeceased by his father, Pasquale Taccone, mother Enrica and brother Albino. Tony is survived by his sister Trish (Jeff), nephews Josh and Ethan and niece Alyssa (Albino).
Tony came to Canada with his brother and parents when he was just 4 years old, settling in Mississauga, Ontario. Tony’s love for adventure started early and when he was just 18 he put down his roots in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Anyone who knew Tony knows he cherished his friends and family. He also loved his work transforming homes and had a loyal clientele over the years. Not only because of the skill at what he did, but also because of his wonderful demeanour and caring nature.
He’s best known for his love for nature and his wanderlust when it came to the mountains. Whether solo or with friends the mountains were his true home, his North Star. He worked hard every week but played harder every weekend either hiking, climbing, skiing, biking or just taking a drive to his favourite places.
He died peacefully after a 3-year battle with kidney cancer that brought with it many complications as he fought his hardest. He was very private about his cancer journey and hoped for remission. Unfortunately, complications after two major surgeries, oral chemo and two rounds of radiation made that a difficult feat.
Tony, you left this earth far too soon and didn’t get to enjoy the fruits of your labour. However, you left behind a legacy of love and friendship that won’t soon be forgotten. We’ll miss your smile, your laughter and you walking through the door. You’ll live forever in our memories. We hope you’re already on top of a mountain feeling wild and free, as that’s all we ever wanted for you.
Be free, Tony. We’ll love you forever.
A Celebration of Life will be planned later this year. Please email tacconetony4@gmail.com if you would like to attend.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
