It is with great sadness that Stanley (Stan) Wu passed away peacefully on May 8, 2023. He was born in Taipei, Taiwan and immigrated to Canada at thirteen years old.
After completing high school, he moved to Nanaimo to work. After some experience in the workforce, Stan pursued a career in Civil Engineering where he graduated from Carleton University. He worked in eastern Canada and Kelowna before settling in Vancouver. Stanley is survived by his wife – May, son – Nicholas, sisters – Jean and Linda, and nieces – Nicole, Dani, and Andrea.
Stan was an avid golfer, getting up at the crack of dawn to tee off with relatives and friends. He would embrace the outdoors while riding his bike around the lower mainland and roughing it at a rainy campsite. Stan was also a lover of trains and locomotives. He created, built and expanded his three-track electric model train sets by adding two different bridges he made himself and developed it into a mini town. He would then be the conductor operating either one, two or all three trains at the same time. His passion for various sports and travelling the world included an experience on the Mountaineer journey to the Rockies.
Stan was honest, meticulous in details, and fair-minded. He will be remembered for his thoughtful and caring nature where he taught us to persist and be vigilant. Stan was a warrior and his stamina will live on through all those who knew him. He will be greatly missed and forever loved in our hearts.
We give our thanks to all the relatives and friends for their unconditional love and support.
