SMS Privacy Policy

Amherst Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. is committed to protecting the privacy of our clients.  With this commitment, we established the following policy to govern the use of our SMS communication in providing our services to you.  This policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose and secure your personal information when you receive text messages from us.  By providing your phone number, you consent to the practices described in this policy. This policy is only for SMS communication only – This does not supersede Amherst’s Privacy Policy which is available here.

Collection of Phone Numbers

We only collect phone numbers only that are voluntarily provided to us (by yourself or by non-commercial third-party [e.g. family members, relatives, friends, welfare agencies, coroner services) who may act in your best interest in allowing us to provide our services).  Some examples include collection from submitted forms, inquiries , transactions and communication with us.  We do not collect phone numbers from commercial third party for the purpose of sales and marketing. 

Use of Phone Numbers for SMS

Your phone numbers are primarily used to provide you with our services, enable us to perform tasks to perform services you require from Amherst and to communicate inquiries and updates related to fulfilling those services you requested. 

We send you SMS messages when:

• You indicated this as your preferred method of contact.
• It is time-critical to reach you and we are unable to do so by other methods of communication (phone call, email).

SMS messaging charges may be applied by your carrier.  For SMS communication, we only share your phone number with our SMS provider, subject to their privacy policy.  We use RingCentral to send all SMS communications to our clients.  Please read RingCentral’s privacy policy here, to understand how they use user information.
